The Rebranding Project began in 2012 with Deepsmart

There was a brainstorming session and the following was identified:

  • All sectors of industry included (technicians, student members)
  • Not exclusive
  • Respected authority in Africa
  • Promote awareness as from secondary school
  • Network of likeminded engineers – forum
  • Industry respect the organization
  • Custodians of industry

Tone

  • Was seen as an old boys club
  • Perceived as vendor driven
  • Coolness
  • Energetic
  • Encourage youngsters – engineering field
  • Balance between fun and professionalism
  • Interesting
  • Youngsters must feel they want to be part of it

  • Looking after the existing members
  • Looking after Patron members
  • Show real examples to youngsters – tangible

Target Audience

  • Captains of industry
  • Government
  • Dean of faculty – Tertiary Institutions
  • School – vocational guidance – head master – TEE
  • Department of education needs to give permission
